A relatively simple yet somewhat deep game. Albeit it doesn’t harbor a really challenging difficulty nor a complex story, it offers an easygoing narrative in which its gameplay rewards aspects like exploration and collections of items for alchemy recipes over other more common in the genre like action, narrative and complex controls.
Atelier Sophie is a solid game and welcome addition to the series. The crafting system has changed. However, I felt there was nothing wrong with the previous crafting system from Atelier Ayesha and Atelier Escha & Logy. I don’t understand why Koei Tecmo changed it in Atelier Sophie?
The crafting system is more streamlined but I don’t like having to match elements to the colors on the grid. The crafting now seems way too simplified and a step back for the series.
The gameplay is still fun. The music soundtrack is excellent. The graphics are okay but I expect more polish from Koei. I mean heck its 2016. The graphics should not look like they are from 2010. The game is still dialogue heavy but not as bad as Atelier Escha & Logy. In the future I wish that Koei Tecmo reduces the dialogue or give an option to completely skip it as it’s unnecessary and overkill at the moment.
